College Portrayed in Pro-Life Movie, COME WHAT MAY, Wins Its Fourth National Championship

(PRWEB) January 20, 2010 -- Patrick Henry College (PHC), the true-to-life school portrayed in the pro-life movie, COME WHAT MAY, has won its fourth National ACMA Moot Court Championship in six years. The PHC team captured first and third place team trophies in legal debate against the likes of Harvard, Baylor, Holy Cross, Syracuse University, and many others. A total of 64 teams competed in the national tournament held early January 2010. In the association's 10-year history, no other college or university has won more than one ACMA national championship.

This remarkable win comes as the nation marks the 37th year since the U.S. Supreme Court made abortion legal in their 1973 Roe versus Wade decision. Across the country many pro-life organizations are reminding people about the sanctity of human life. In the movie, COME WHAT MAY (CWM), the PHC legal debate team argues to overturn Roe versus Wade at the national moot court championship.

The College, known for its stand for Christ and for liberty, seeks to train a new generation who will shape our culture and serve our nation. The College continues to build on its reputation as a legal debate powerhouse, sending its team members to the top law and graduate schools in the country, and as an incubator for young Christian leaders training themselves to go out and make an impact.

Partnering with Advent Film Group in making the movie, the College is making a lasting impact in the fight for life. The movie has been shown nationwide to students at church youth groups, homeschool conferences, high schools, Bible colleges, and universities. It remains the bestselling DVD movie for church screenings for over six months, according to the Outreach Films website listing. It has been used to raise funds for pro-life ministries, with audiences as large as 2,000 people in a single screening. This week, ten months after its initial release, Christian radio stations nationwide are encouraging their listeners to see COME WHAT MAY. Radio program directors have told Advent Film Group that the movie remains one of the most powerful tools to explain: “when life begins” and provide encouragement that “Roe versus Wade” can be overturned.

“All of this has happened beyond our expectations," said George Escobar, AFG founder and co-director of CWM. "We recognize it can only happen by God’s grace and direction.” “Beginning this week and beyond, we encourage everyone to be a voice for life in your community, church, campus and with friends and family.”
